Chad "in Amsterdam" Bilyeau has teamed up with Amsterdam-based artist, Juliette deWit to produce his first ongoing series. Each issue is 28 pages (including covers), digest-size, and printed in black and white... and green. The Re-Up takes us to Washington DC in the mid-aughts (2004 -08) where Chad was working as the night supervisor of the AV (audio-visual, for those not old enough to remember this acronym) department at Georgetown University. Here is this first "origin" issue, readers wiill discover what "the re-up" is all about. Through a series of encounters, the connecting thread of which was the shared predilection to "partake" in the smoking of herb, Chad finds himself plying the trade. Knowing a business opportunity when he sees one, Chad take the plunge. Look for #2 soon...
Picking up where #1 left off, this issue takes readers deeper into the world of weed dealing, as Chad learns the ropes of this particular small scale business. It is one that operates, in many respects, like any other retail business, only, due to its – then – illegality, it had its own particular set of rules and regulations. Readers will discover what some of these are, meet some memorable characters and get a sense of the milieu, here in the pages of the second issue of The Re-Up. 28 pages, digest-size, printed in black and white... and green.
