This box set focuses on the early years of Miles Davis' career, when he worked as a young trumpeter in a variety of musical contexts, most tellingly as a member of Charlie Parker's seminal quintet and culminating in his classic "Birth Of The Cool" recording, the major influence on the development of jazz during the fifties. This box set reveals to the listener the beginnings of musical career that would not only affect modern jazz to the core, but that would transcend modern music as we know it.
